Freshwater is a village. A short run of shops, a beach at the bottom of the hill, and streets of houses and semis stacked up behind it. Bin cleaning here is almost entirely a household job, and the complication is the terrain — steep driveways, narrow lanes and shared access where the bins live a long way from the kerb.

Freshwater’s streets fall away toward the beach, and a lot of homes sit well above or well below their own kerb. Four bins is a real trip. Our crews collect the bins from wherever they are stored, clean them, and put them back — you are not expected to stage them for us.
Narrow lanes and shared driveways are the other constant. We work in tight access regularly across Freshwater and Curl Curl, and we don’t need to park a truck across the entrance to do it.
What we clean in Freshwater
Houses and semis. The bulk of the work. Red, yellow, blue and lime green, cleaned after collection while they are empty.
Small unit blocks. Six to twenty units with a shared bin area — common through Freshwater and worth a scheduled clean, because a shared bin is used by everyone and noticed by no one until it smells.
Gardens mean green bins. Freshwater has real gardens, so the lime green vegetation bin gets used properly. Council accepts branches under 75mm thick — no stumps, logs, soil, pots or stones. Damp clippings sitting in a warm bin are the most common source of the smell people call us about.

Freshwater driveways. A lot of these blocks fall away from the street, and hauling bins back up a steep drive in the dark is the part people quietly dread.
What we do. We take the bins down to the kerb the evening before collection and bring them back up once they have been emptied, on whatever schedule your collection runs.
Worth knowing. On a steep block this is often the more useful of our two services. Plenty of Freshwater customers start with placement and add a clean later.
The green bin problem in Freshwater
Freshwater has gardens, and on the Northern Beaches that means the lime green bin works harder than most people expect. Council takes garden organics — prunings, clippings, leaves and branches — but only up to 75mm thick. Anything heavier than that is not a kerbside job.
The part that catches people out is what happens next. Unlike North Sydney and Mosman, Northern Beaches Council runs no booked green waste collection. There is the bin, and that is it. If a weekend of hedging fills it, the surplus has to go to Kimbriki Resource Recovery Centre yourself.
So the green bin here tends to sit full, wet and packed between collections, which is exactly the condition that leaves residue baked into the base. Emptying it does not shift that — only a pressure clean does. If you only ever have one bin cleaned in Freshwater, make it the green one.
