Wheelie Bin Cleaning in Balgowlah

Houses and strata across Balgowlah and Balgowlah Heights — cleaned at the kerb.

Balgowlah is a garden suburb, and that shows up in the bins. Family homes on real blocks, hedges and lawns that need cutting, and a lime green vegetation bin that works harder here than almost anywhere else on the Northern Beaches. Add the streets on the Heights that fall away toward North Harbour, and you have a suburb where the bins are both heavily used and awkward to move.

We clean and sanitise wheelie bins across Balgowlah and Balgowlah Heights for houses and for strata buildings. Residential and strata only — we don’t service commercial premises.

Bin collection in Balgowlah

Northern Beaches Council runs a four-bin system. Four bins is more than most Sydney councils issue, and it means four times the surface area quietly collecting residue between collections.

Your collection day is set by your address, not your suburb. Two streets in Balgowlah can be on different days, so check Council’s waste calendar rather than going by a neighbour’s bin.

What Council asks:

  • Bins out the night before. Council states collection can occur any time between 6am and 6pm on your day, so a bin wheeled out after breakfast is a bin that gets missed.
  • On the kerb, at least 20cm apart, lids facing the street.
  • Lid closed flat. Council’s own reason is worth reading: it prevents windblown litter, spillage during emptying, and foraging by birds and other animals.
  • Bins back in within 24 hours.

The green bin problem

This is the Balgowlah bin. Grass clippings and hedge prunings go in wet, they sit in a closed plastic bin through a warm week, and they break down before the truck arrives. Council accepts branches under 75mm thick in the lime green bin — no stumps, logs, soil, pots, tiles or stones — but even a correctly filled green bin is the one most likely to be the source of the smell drifting across the yard.

A green bin that has been used properly for a season does not come clean with a hose. It needs pressure, and it needs doing while the bin is empty, which is why we come after collection rather than before.

Balgowlah Heights and the harbour side

The Heights streets drop toward North Harbour, and plenty of homes there sit well above or well below their own kerb — long driveways, steps, and bin storage tucked around the side of the house. Four bins is a genuine trip, twice a week, in the dark.

Our crews collect the bins from wherever they are kept, clean them, and put them back. You are not expected to stage them at the kerb for us, and you don’t need to be home.

Strata and unit blocks

Balgowlah has a solid run of unit blocks, mostly small to mid-sized, with a shared bin area rather than a full basement bin room. Those are the bins that go longest without attention, because a shared bin is used by everyone and owned by no one — until it starts to smell and it becomes everybody’s complaint at once.

We quote per bin area, work around the building’s collection days, and can invoice the strata or the managing agent directly. Most buildings move to a scheduled clean after the first one, because the first clean makes the gap obvious. See our service for strata and property managers.

Bin placement in Balgowlah

If the Heights driveway is the part that keeps beating you, our bin placement service takes the bins down to the kerb the evening before and brings them back once they are emptied. It pairs naturally with a clean, and on a steep block it is often the more valuable of the two.
