Wheelie Bin Cleaning in Double Bay

Double Bay is a weekly suburb. Woollahra collects all three bins on the same day, every week, which means the bins are handled more often than almost anywhere else we service — and bins that are handled constantly get dirty.
We clean and sanitise wheelie bins across Double Bay for strata buildings, managing agents and households.
Bin collection in Double Bay
Woollahra Council runs three bins and services all of them weekly, on the same day: red for garbage, yellow for recycling, and a green bin that takes food and garden waste together.
Food scraps in the green bin is the important one. Council’s own position is that food makes up close to half of what the area sends to landfill each week, and the weekly green service is designed around moving it.
For anything that will not fit in a bin, Council runs a free scheduled clean-up, with additional pick-ups charged per item.

Weekly collection, and a green bin full of food
A green bin that takes meat, seafood, bones and dairy every week is a green bin that needs cleaning. That is not a criticism of the service — it is the trade-off for keeping that material out of landfill, and Woollahra is clear about wanting residents to use it properly.
Double Bay’s other complication is storage. Terraces and apartment blocks here rarely have room to keep three bins out of sight, so they live in a courtyard, a rear lane or a shared cage. Bins stored where people walk past them are the ones we get called about.
What Woollahra's green bin will not take
The list is more specific than most people expect, and getting it wrong contaminates the whole load.
Tea bags are out — Council excludes them because of the chemicals in the bag itself, which surprises almost everyone. So are compostable and biodegradable packaging, plastic bags of any kind, pet waste, tissues, cardboard, and tree stumps thicker than 150mm.
Food, though, is very much in: fruit and vegetable scraps, bread, pasta, rice, coffee grounds, and meat, seafood and bones. Which is precisely why the bin needs cleaning.
What we clean in Double Bay
Strata and apartment bin areas. The bulk of the work here. Whole cages and rooms rather than individual bins, on a schedule that fits the building. We quote per bin area and invoice the strata or the managing agent directly — see our service for strata and property managers.
Terraces and houses. Smaller in number, same job: cleaned at the kerb after collection, so you do not need to be home.
The bins we clean: red, yellow and green.
Bin placement in Double Bay
Where the bins actually live. In Double Bay that is rarely a driveway. It is a courtyard, a lane or a cage, and somebody has to bring them to the frontage for collection.
What we do. We take the building’s bins out before collection and return them afterwards. With all three bins collected weekly, that is fifty-two trips a year somebody is currently making.
Who books it. Strata committees and managing agents, usually alongside a scheduled clean of the same bins.
