Household Rubbish Removal in Sydney
Some rubbish doesn’t fit in a bin, and waiting for a council clean-up means living with it for weeks. Every Sydney council runs a free hard-waste service, but the allowance, the volume limit and the wait vary enormously depending on which side of a boundary road you live on. We clear household rubbish when it suits you, not when the calendar allows.
What we take
Furniture, mattresses, whitegoods, general household clutter, garden bags, boxes and packaging, and the accumulated contents of a garage or shed.
What we can’t take
Asbestos, liquid paints and solvents, gas bottles, batteries, tyres and clinical waste. These need licensed handling — see our chemical and hazardous waste guidance.
Try your council first — here’s what you’re entitled to
We would rather you used your free council collection than paid us, so here is what each council in our service area actually offers. Check the current rules on your council’s own site before you book, because allowances change.

Two things catch people out. On the Northern Beaches the allowance runs on a rolling 12 months from your first booking, so a new resident can find the previous occupant has already used both. And in Ku-ring-gai every unit must book separately — adding your pile to a neighbour’s booking is treated as illegal dumping.
Where councils say no
The exclusion lists differ in detail but agree on the big ones. Almost no council will take building and renovation waste, bricks, concrete, soil, tyres, car parts, paint, chemicals, gas bottles or asbestos in a kerbside clean-up.
Electronic waste is the one that varies most. Randwick, the City of Sydney and Ku-ring-gai accept it. Northern Beaches, North Sydney, Mosman, Lane Cove, Woollahra and Hornsby do not — it has to go to a Community Recycling Centre instead. Mattresses are accepted almost everywhere, with Willoughby the exception, where they are booked separately through the Soft Landing scheme.
Put out something on the no list and the whole pile can be left behind. Put out more than your allowance, or put it out too early, and several councils treat it as illegal dumping — Woollahra’s fines start at $320.
When it’s worth paying us instead
Not always, and we will tell you so. Call your council first if you can wait and everything you have is on their accepted list.
Paying makes sense when the timing is fixed and the council’s isn’t — a lease ending, a settlement date, an inspection, a deceased estate. It makes sense when the pile is bigger than your allowance, or when you have already used your free collections for the year. It makes sense when the load is mostly things the council won’t take. And it makes sense when nobody at the property can carry a lounge down a flight of stairs.
