Wheelie Bin Cleaning in Neutral Bay

Shared bin rooms, unit blocks and houses — cleaned on a schedule that suits the building.

Neutral Bay is one of the most apartment-dense pockets on the Lower North Shore, which makes it one of the harder places to keep bins clean. Shared bins, shared bin rooms, and a North Sydney collection run that starts at 4:30am.

We clean and sanitise wheelie bins across Neutral Bay for apartment buildings, strata committees and houses.

Bin collection in Neutral Bay

Neutral Bay falls under North Sydney Council. Collection runs Monday to Friday from 4:30am, with your day set by address — Council’s interactive map will tell you which. Red bins take general waste, yellow bins recycling.

Why shared bins need it more

A household bin is used by one family who can see when it needs attention. A shared bin is used by everyone and noticed by no one until it smells. Most buildings we work with move to a scheduled clean after the first one, because the first clean makes the gap obvious.

What we clean in Neutral Bay

Apartment and strata bin rooms. This is the core of the work in Neutral Bay. A bin room serving twenty or thirty apartments takes more abuse in a week than a household bin takes in a year, and it’s usually enclosed, unventilated, and nobody’s individual responsibility. Odour and drain flies in a shared bin room are a building-wide complaint, and they’re a cleaning problem, not a plumbing one.

We quote per bin room, work around the building’s collection days, and can invoice the strata or the managing agent directly.

Houses and semis. Smaller in number here, but the same service: bins cleaned at the kerb after collection.

Property managers. If you manage multiple buildings across Neutral Bay, Cremorne and North Sydney, we can schedule them together.

Bin placement in Neutral Bay

Bin rooms, not driveways. Most Neutral Bay buildings keep their bins in a room or a cage set back from the street, and someone still has to move them out for collection every week.

What we do. We take the building’s bins out to the frontage before collection and return them to the room once they have been emptied — so it is not left to whoever happens to be walking past.

Who books it. Strata committees and building managers, usually alongside a scheduled clean of the same bins. Houses too, on the same evening-before basis.

Half a cubic metre per unit — why buildings run out

Neutral Bay is one of the densest residential pockets on the Lower North Shore, and North Sydney Council’s bulky waste allowance is written per dwelling, not per building. A freestanding house gets 2 cubic metres a booking. A unit gets half a cubic metre.

Half a cubic metre is a mattress and not much else. In a block of twenty, that allowance is theoretically ten cubic metres, but only if every unit’s share is actually coordinated — and in practice one resident’s hard rubbish gets left beside the bins, the building goes over, and the pile sits there.

Collections run every second Monday with bookings closing 4pm the Sunday before. Large items and whitegoods have to go out on the main street frontage, not a rear laneway, because the truck needs access — a real constraint on the older blocks off Military Road and around Kurraba Point where the parking is at the back.

Bin rooms are a different job to kerbside bins

A household bin spends most of the week outside. A bin room bin spends its whole life in an enclosed space, often with no ventilation and no natural light, used by dozens of people who have no individual responsibility for it.

The result is predictable: residue builds up faster, odour has nowhere to go, and the smell people notice in the lobby or the lift well usually starts in the bin room. Emptying doesn’t fix it, because the problem is what’s dried onto the inside of the bin and the floor around it.

For strata buildings we work on a schedule that fits the collection cycle, and we invoice the strata or the managing agent directly rather than chasing residents. If you manage a building here, see our strata and property management page.
